about us

biocaseycasey routinely laughs at his current station in life. he never would have guessed he’d be living in kentucky–much less, loving it. seminary was the last thing on his mind 3 years ago, but now he finds himself growing in the joy of the gospel. he especially senses the urgency of its message. not a self-proclaimed “school guy,” casey has been delighted to find that he loves learning, whether buried in the confessions of early church fathers, or parsing a greek verb. while this time of study and preparation is beneficial and worthwile, his feet are itching to go. he desires to live among peruvian yak herders but also to feed and clothe african orphans. he is trusting that the lord will refine his desires, providing more direction at some point.

as it turns out, casey also happens to love kids. this fact lay repressed within him until the birth of his daughter. she is a daily joy. it is no secret that casey often schemes of ways to become a stay-at-home dad. he’s sure, however, that he’d never measure up to his wife’s performance.

bioalicia

alicia is surprised to be rapidly approaching 26. she’s pretty sure she should feel older.. or at least more capable. she is becoming increasingly fascinated with industriousness. not like factories, more like little house on the prarie. she can regularly be found googling things like “how to make your own kefir” or “spinning your own wool” (closely followed by “are sheep allowed on apartment balconies in louisville, kentucky?”). she finds that these searches usually land her in one of two worlds: that of the survivalist/anarchist and that of the crazy hippy. she prefers the latter.

her greatest joy is found in an abiding relationship with jesus. she also loves being casey’s wife. really, truly loves it. he’s her best friend. here are a few reasons she’s just crazy about him. most recently she became mom to spunky penelope jane. this change has completely rewired her. she is in the mommy-zone. her days are now spent praying for, playing with, chasing, feeding, bathing, correcting, and (cloth)diapering her sweet daughter and she wouldn’t have it any other way

biopenelope

penelope is no longer an infant and clearly on the verge of fullblown toddlerhood. she is drawn to plants, flowers, and dominoes with inexplicable intensity. her favorite passtime is listening to daddy sing or play music, and she can’t wait to join him. she took her time learning to crawl but didn’t lose any time mastering it. brown bear, brown bear what do you see? and go, dog. go! hold a special place in her heart. she is clever, silly, social, and has a flair for drama. her parents adore her and she knows it.

    Hello Casey & Alicia,

I just linked over from Jan Bernards’ blog (she’s a long time friend and we both grew up in Santa Clarita.) Our family relocated to Bloomington, Indiana last year, so it was fun to see that you’re living just South of here!

Stop by our family blog or farm blog sometime and say “hi”.
