I Spy Bag {diy}

December 26, 2012

I needed something simple and fun to put in Penelope and Arthur’s stockings

and I wanted it to be homemade.

So I pulled a project out of my someday I’ll make this file

and it seemed just right.

It’s not a new idea, but I think it’s a fun one. Hopefully the kids will, too.

You can find tutorials all over the internet, but I used this one.  I liked that it had a nice big window, a little easier for younger kids to find the little trinkets hidden in the rice. Only a couple of modifications: I added a little top-stitching around the window to make it stronger.. attached the (laminated) picture card with a sewn loop and a keychain ring.. and filled the bag with brown rice instead of poly beads.

I’m not much of a seamstress, so if you have any sewing inclination at all {read: if you can sew in a straight line}, you could make one. Really.

    Love this! But I’m not sure I can sew in a straight line. :)
