penelope likes pretty things. especially if she thinks they make her look pretty.
we don’t know how this happened. clearly the day will come, and soon, when she realizes i am useless to her in this department. she will plead to any sympathetic ear, begging them to instruct her in the ways of makeup and fashion. oh the disappointment that i will be. heaven help her if she ever tries to convince me she needs another pair of shoes..
anyway.
the girl is fascinated with all things frilly– she loves brushing her hair, “wearing” make-up (and by “wearing,” i mean someone pretending to put it on her), admiring pretty dresses, and accessorizing. it is not at all unusual to have her toddle over, hand me a headband, and ask very nicely to wear it.
i think the best part is after she is wearing said headband… she says “oooOooO.” it sounds kind of like “oo la la,” and it is a very proud sound.
no. i take it back. the best part is when she puts a headband on casey and then smiles, admiring her handiwork. fathers of daughters–you know? they put up with so much.. and can’t even pretend to mind.
“don’t i look pretty?” (also note: she often wears one headband as a necklace… she’s just creative like that)

My girl is doing the same thing – I’m going to pass her off once she needs to learn these things. She whistles at herself, though -in high heel shoes, necklaces, dresses, hair accessories (not like she has any hair), and grandma introduced her to “make-up”… We’re in for big trouble!
I can’t believe you have produced a “girly girl”!!! That is so funny! I always wanted to buy dresses and had all boys, then I had granddaughters who all dislike dresses! Has my wish finally come true??? What size?? Love, GG
Georgie LOVES to make her headbands necklaces. And she’s way into choosing dresses to wear each day….especially pink. haha
uh oh Alicia despite all attempts to counteract this it happened. Her auntie will help her out when she’s 16. Because of course that’s how old she’ll have to be before she can wear makeup :) Such a cutie. I can’t wait to see her toddle around when you guys are here. So um… would like to see a picture of your tummy, you are pregnant aren’t you?? Love you guys lots. Don’t pay too close attention on your ultrasounds or you might find out!! I’m assuming it’s about that time.
