it doesn’t feel like july.

July 22, 2009

what a wonderful, cool, rainy day we’re having here! it’s kind of invigorating to have a reprieve from summer. i’ve had an encouraging few days, and while the sickness hasn’t subsided, i still feel refreshed. praise god! a dear, sweet friend brought a few more (individual) meals over this week.. and i couldn’t be more grateful. avoiding the whole process– meal-planning, shopping list, prep, smelling it cook– and skipping right to the attempt-to-eat stage has been a breath of fresh air. it’s hard to convey the emotional exhaustion that comes with such difficulty in eating.. and knowing that you’ve got special nutritional requirements.. ugh. BUT god is good to teach me to trust him through this trial. it sure takes something extreme to get through to my stubborn heart.

we’re still partially moved. i’m dreaming about our new couches… and sitting on a folding chair. lol. tomorrow is the last big day, taking the washer/dryer, tv cabinet, and crib. we’ve got the weekend to move all the rest of the little stuff (kitchen, etc) and finish cleaning. carpet cleaners come monday, tuesday we turn in the key and unpack at the new place.. wednesday we’re on a plane. speaking of which– anyone care to give us a ride to the airport at the crack of dawn? yeah. wednesday morning. i know. we’ve already started shuttle shopping.

my ob appointment was cancelled yesterday, due to an emergency c-section. that’s what happens when you go to a small practice. i’m really happy with the switch, though. the doctor is wonderful, nurses are kind and compassionate, and the midwife is quirky and cool. i went to the hospital, that i’ll deliver at, for some bloodwork and it seems really nice. i wasn’t too disappointed at the cancellation… we already had a willing babysitter, so we went on a baby-free lunch date. it was great! don’t get me wrong, i love my kiddo, and she does fine in restaurants… but it was fun having casey all to myself, with no interruptions.

i’m ten weeks, and baby kumquat is about an inch long. baby has fingernails, vital organs in place, and weighs about a quarter of an ounce. my belly is popping quite a bit earlier than last time… guess it knows the routine this time around :). my clothing options are rapidly depleting. it’s that weird in-between stage… too small for maternity, but the regular clothes are tight on the belly. you know what i mean.. when you want to wear a sign that says “i’m pregnant,” to explain away your ambiguous, beer-ish belly.

and because i know better than to publish a post without pictures:

my mom made penelope this dress for the fourth of july. don’t you love it?!

I’m lovin’ the little mullet that Penelope’s got going on :) (at least the first picture makes it appear as though she has one)!

    I’m loving this weather!

We had a baby free date too, and it was amazing! I just couldn’t believe I could sit somewhere and have no one hanging on me… except my husband ;)

    Enjoy vacation! :)
